How a Borehole Transformed an Entire Village

A single water project brought health, education, and economic opportunities to 500 villagers.

The village of Kofar Gabas in Northern Nigeria had no access to clean water. Women and children walked 5 kilometers daily to fetch water from a contaminated river. Waterborne diseases were rampant, and children missed school due to illness. When Minhaajulhudaa Charity Foundation built a borehole in the village, everything changed. Within three months: - Waterborne diseases dropped by 80% - School attendance increased by 45% - Women gained 3 hours daily previously spent fetching water - A community garden was started using the water supply "We used to bury our children because of water diseases," says Malam Yusuf, the village head. "Now, our children are healthy and in school. The borehole gave us life." This project, funded by donors like you, cost ₦2.5 million but transformed 500 lives. We plan to build 10 more boreholes in similar communities this year.
